BernCo Commissioners have approved a third round of Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) grants for small businesses.
Bernalillo County small business owners who wish to apply for emergency financial support through the Bernalillo County CARES small business grant for qualified small businesses to assist with costs associated with business interruption caused by required closures due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will need to be prepared with specific business information and forms.
Through this program, the county will offer one-time grants up to $10,000 to qualifying small businesses and nonprofits to cover costs such as employee wages, vendor bills, and rent. An additional $1 million has been allotted for this third round of funding, which is available as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act federal stimulus package.

It requires the following documentation be attached to the application:
· W-9 Form
· Active State Organization Registration (Articles of Incorporation)
· New Mexico Secretary of State Certificate of Good Standing
· Organization Financials (2019 Tax Return, 2018 Tax Return and 2019 Extension, or equivalent)
· Staffing Documentation for 2019 (W-3 Summary, Schedule SE, 1096 OR 2019 or 2018 IRS FORM 941)
· Updated and Current Property Tax Receipt or Copy of Current Lease
· New Mexico Taxation and Revenue 2020 CRS Documentation
· Current Bernalillo County or City of Albuquerque Business License
Note: Grants will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once the online process has begun, it cannot be saved. If an applicant exits the application process before submitting, the process will begin again when the applicant clicks the link. Once the form is complete and the documents are attached, applicants will click on the submit button and the application is complete. Applications cannot be accessed again once they are submitted.
Priority will be given to businesses and organizations that did not receive funds from the Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), Federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), or small business assistance funds from the State of New Mexico or, Bernalillo County CARES Small Business Grant, or the City of Albuquerque.
Reimbursement is not required for grant recipients. Organizations that were awarded a $10,000 Bernalillo County CARES Small Business Grant are not eligible for additional funding. Organizations that were awarded less than $10,000 may reapply for additional funds up to a total of $10,000.
The application process will remain open until funds are exhausted.
Regardless of whether a business is eligible for this program, it may still qualify for other existing assistance programs.

For your convenience, the document that is required to apply for the Bernalillo County CARES Small Business Grant is a digital application form, accessed via the URL link below. This will enable you to fully complete the application on-line, digitally-sign, and submit to the County, without downloading or printing the document. In order to submit your application, you will receive an email from Adobe Sign requesting that you confirm your email. Upon the County’s acceptance of the application, a digital copy of the completed document will be returned to you via email.
The CARES grant application requires certain supporting documentation, which must be attached to the application. The appropriate places in the document are clearly indicated to upload the designated attachment. If you do not have this supporting documentation available in digital form, please upload a note that the information will be submitted separately to econdevcares@bernco.gov. For an application to be considered complete, all required documents must be received by Bernalillo County Economic Development no later than 14 business days after the grant application has been submitted.
It is recommended that you read the application carefully in its entirety before you start to complete it. This will allow you to have all the necessary information available as you complete the form. If your browser session is interrupted before you complete and confirm the application, then your data will have to be re-entered.

Para su conveniencia, el documento que se requiere para solicitar la Subvención CARES para Pequeñas Empresas del Condado de Bernalillo es un formulario de solicitud digital, al que se accede a través del enlace a continuación. Esto le permitirá completar la solicitud en línea, firmarla digitalmente y enviarla al Condado, sin descargar ni imprimir el documento.
